Internationally acclaimed speaker and writer Margaret Wheatley asks a very simple but incredibly important question: Could we change the world if we just begin listening to one another again?

Arizona Community Action Association invites you to join Margaret Wheatley on October 7, 2009 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm to answer this and many other questions relevant to our Arizona community and the families and individuals we serve.

How would the Arizona community be different if we truly took the time to hear each other’s words and thoughts and to learn what’s important to one another? When we listen to each other with our different perspectives and diverse experiences, when we realize that we have sufficient common dreams and goals—that’s when real change begins. Change that has ownership built in from the start, that is based on the complexity and diversity of needs, and that operates within a strengthening web of relationships.

Would the human service system operate differently?

Would the Arizona community be healthier economically, physically, educationally and spiritually if we took the time to listen and to talk to one another in a meaningful way?

Over the years, we have made personal and organizational commitments to serve families and individuals throughout Arizona. These individuals and families take on many labels – poor, homeless, abused, hungry, vulnerable, disabled, unemployed – and so have we: discouraged, angry, sorrowful.

We have celebrated our victories, overcome our challenges and recommitted, time and again, to help. The fight goes on and so do we.

During the past two years, we have seen families and individuals struggle more than ever.

But, what if we

Did start listening to one another

Reconnected with one another

Rethought what we do, why we do it and how to do it better

Created a new delivery system that works for all Arizonans

If you have a yearning to ask these questions and begin to realize real change with other members of your community, then please join us as we bring Margaret Wheatley to the Valley to begin this connection, or reconnection, and the conversation on October 7. Margaret’s path-breaking book, Leadership and the New Science, has been translated into more than 20 languages and is credited with establishing a fundamentally new approach to we think about organizations.

The Arizona Community Action Association is convening a full-day conversation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Meg Wheatley at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa. The only charge to you is $25 for the cost of your lunch.

Please confirm your registration for this event by emailing czwick@azcaa.org or calling ACAA at 602-604-0640. Payment may be made in advance or on the day of the event. Please make checks payable to: Arizona Community Action Association.
